Yes, mailman puts the notification on the door about being able to pick up my package at the post office since I was unable to sign for it yesterday. Go to the post office and show them the slip, the lady says I’m unable to pick it up. That I’m “circumventing” the process. So I ask how I can correctly pick up my package, and I gotta wait til it’s back at the office. It went back out for delivery today.
Then why the fuck give me a slip saying I can pick it up at the post office, if I cant? The post office wonders why they are broke and no one sends anything through them anymore. I honestly don’t, nor do I use UPS. Between them both they’ve pissed me off enough. So I use Fedex, plus it’s convenient to my office.
So I guess I’ll get my package today.

The slip should have stated what time you would be able to pick up the package at the delivery center. This just happened to me a week ago.

You won’t. Just from experience.
Fedex pissed me off too - Amazon sends package using UPS or Fedex. Then the last mile, they hand it off to USPS. USPS derps hard and loses their shit. End result, I get my package the 12th of never.
To add insult to injury, terrible people walking around following delivery truck. Anything left by delivery person in an unsecured area grows legs and walks away with terrible people. Also speaking from experience.

Or you won’t because the postal carrier will do the same damn thing.
I’ve had postal carriers wave to me as I’m in my front lawn doing yard work, and STILL put the damn postcard in my mailbox. There are many carriers who are just flat out lazy and don't want to get out of their vehicles. Not all, mind you, but I've had a few doozies over the years.

Slip said starting today. My mailman comes pretty early most of the time. Then if I miss him, I either can track him down and he’ll give me it or it’ll go to the office. Not this time.
My mailman is pretty good. Like for example, I miss today’s delivery attempt, but I see him a few streets over. I talk to him, and he’ll give me it out of his van. Instead of me going to the post office.

UPS doesn’t like to give me my overnight packages on time, and even if they were overnight guaranteed by 8am, I get them 3 days later at 5pm.
That’s happened way more than 1 time, at home or at my business office. Then when asked about it, they claim it was the senders fault by missing their deadline.

Seems like there should have been an actual time on there instead of just a date. That sucks.

It always amuses me when people rant about the USPS... just have a look at other countries’ postal systems.
If there’s *ONE* thing we do “right” by international first-world standards here in the US-of-A it’s the postal system. We have pretty much the cheapest (by a *LARGE* margin), most reliable and fastest federal postal system in the world, and when you take into account how much LARGER the USA is than the other members of the top-5 leading postal systems (Japan, Korea, Australia (well OK, Australia is pretty large, but their population is no where near as big as ours), Germany) it really is quite phenomenal.

This is normal procedure for them. It sucks, but not unusual. They leave a slip, but then the damn package goes back on the truck every day, so it's very rarely actually at the office until after day 3. This makes no sense. But it's still 100x better than DHL on a good day :D

Fedex takes three months to deliver something USPS or UPS could deliver in three hours. It is literally the single biggest asshole move in the universe to send something to somebody using Fedex - unless you hate them with an all consuming passion.

You won’t believe me, but I did get a package delivered by USPS on a Sunday morning this past sunday.
9374889690090034002357 Theres the tracking number for proof. I couldn’t believe it either. Then today they make up for delivering on sunday. Also it shows my zip wrong, I live in 45429 not whatever they are showing.

No I’m home today, I even have the front door open, along with a note saying I’m home.
So lets hope he’s in a good mood today. Most of the time, my mailman goes above and beyond and is super nice. Yesterday must have been a different one.

I could understand if the slip said delivery was going to be reattempted, but it didn’t. It just said it’ll be ready for pick up at 9am 6/10. I went at 10 and got told, it’s “circumventing the process”

It’s better than them not being able to find your house. I had an iphone overnighted to my parents house and FedEx couldn’t find my house, mind you the house is in Roswell GA, which is a suburb of metro ATL so it’s not like we live in the middle of nowhere.

USPS and Amazon (the actual white vans with Amazon magnets) have both been delivering in the NYC area for the last year or so. Good stuff, though sometimes scary when someone bangs on the door at 8:30 AM on Sunday.

Last time somebody sent me a fedex tracking number, I drove across the country, kicked their ass, got back home, lived to the age of 105, and died peacefully in my sleep, before fedex delivered the package.

Ok wikipedia, I don’t care. They said I could pick it up at 9am 6/10. Today is that day, and I was told that I couldn’t even with the slip I got.
I could understand if it said it was going to be reattempted but it didnt. That wasn’t written on the card, nor was a box checked for it.

Those guys/gals never seem to fill out the slips completely. It’s no wonder they’re constantly in trouble. The thing I hate most is being told my package is coming via FedEx, but then at the last minute it gets transferred to USPS through their mutual agreement (yeah, this is a new thing). It’s like the worst of both worlds — FedEx rates and USPS efficiency.

I’ll do a UPS rant for you.
So I know I’m getting a UPS package and take a day off from work to wait for it, a laptop. Sitting at home, I keep checking the front door for the truck but I never hear it. Around 4:30pm I look outside and there’s the classic note saying they stopped by but I wasn’t there. I’m like, what in the world, I was here the whole time.
Next day I book it back home during lunch and find the UPS truck and flag him down. Turns out it’s a different driver than the day before and he tells me that the regular driver for our route is a known drunk. Because he has to be at certain stops by a set time, he doesn’t make all his deliveries, but puts up the notes so that he can make up time. It takes too long to actually deliver packages.
Really? We’re getting packages late because this guy is a drunk and late all the time? UPS you suck.

I’ll ask my mailman when he comes. I’ll find out. I have a feeling it was a new guy/gal and not my regular guy.
My regular mailman has my garage code to put the boxes in there.

Thats a fair complaint.
But if you really want to complain, complain about the state of health care and education in the USA. The USPS doesn’t deserve your ire 1/3rd as much as those.

Was it an Amazon shipment? Amazon has a special “deal” with USPS, so sometimes their drivers go deliver Amazon packages on Sundays

He probably just wrote the wrong date. Typically they attempt one redelivery, thinking you'll either be home or that you'll sign the slip and leave it on your door so they can leave the package, before holding it for pickup at the post office. Annoying, but it happens.

The first time USPS leaves you a slip, you can pick up the package that day once your mail carrier gets back to the post office, but it goes back out for delivery the next day. After the second time they leave a slip if you’re not around then it stays at the post office.
Related story: I had a random 3rd party Amazon seller send me something through USPS with signature required. Most of the time packages just get left on my door step. I couldn’t make it to the post office that day, so I went online through the My USPS site to give them instructions to leave the package on my doorstep the next day. When I got home, there was another slip waiting for me with a note that I have to sign in person and writing in the website “this is my signature,” isn’t acceptable.
So, then I went to the post office to pick it up.

USPS has the worst tracking system ever. Can’t even have an “expected delivery date” until the day before it arrives, even though it’s been in their system for the past 5 days

The only difference is when you miss a FedEx package, you have to drive 30 minutes to the warehouse vs. 5 minutes to the local post office. All carriers shirk all responsibility for the well-being of your package. They all suck, but at least USPS is cheap.

Yeah, USPS agreed to deliver on Sunday for a piece of those sweet Amazon dollars. Probably makes sense, even as they try to eliminate Saturday delivery, their trucks and facilities are wasted on Sunday if they aren’t processing and delivering. If someone pays a premium, why not.

I know that, combined with my user name, I’m going to sound like a dick here but: Healthcare is not an issue for everyone I know with a STEM degree. Small copay or deductible and we get taken care of. Yes that’s not the case for all professions, but it isn’t an across-the-board problem. I have had excellent experience with surgeons here and I am glad they get paid what they do. Education hasn’t been an issue for them either, but math and science through high school could certainly be made better while spending less time in English classes learning about useless characters like Holden Caulfield and Chris McCandless.

I bought some headphones online monday. They shipped same day from Oregon via UPS ground. Got to Phoenix WEDNESDAY MORNING. Thursday it was taken from the UPS hub to USPS. I figured I would get them yesterday as they arrived 20 miles from my house on Wednesday. It is Friday and I still dont know if they will be delivered today. Don’t ship UPS sure post. It’s a scam.
